NIGEL residents invited to public meeting to discuss EMM IDP and 2016/17 budget plan
NIGEL - In line with section 16 of the Municipal Financial Management Act, the draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and budget for Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s 2016/17 – 2018/19 financial period, have been tabled for noting by the council.

The IDP is a process through which municipalities prepare a strategic development plan, which extends over a five-year period.
It includes the planning, budgeting, resource allocation and decision-making processes within the municipality, as well as the public participation process.
This means that members of the public and other interested stakeholders have the chance to comment on the metro’s draft municipal budget and copies thereof have been available to the public at all pay points and public libraries within the Ekurhuleni area.
The Budget Tips campaign runs from March 1 to 31 and interested parties can comment on the documents by completing a comment form at any of the points where the documents are available for viewing or by filling in the form electronically on the website or by sending an email to Budgettips@ekurhuleni.gov.za.
During the month of the budget tips campaign, several public meetings are held in all customer care areas across the metro, where the proposed IDP and budget will be presented. The purpose of the meetings is to encourage local residents to engage with the metro and to make comments on the proposed budget.

A public meeting led by MMC Queen Duba is scheduled for 18:00 tonight at the MacKenzieville Hall in Azhad Drive, MacKenzieville.
The draft IDP can also be viewed on the metro’s website
