Police arrest Bradlows burglars

Back door and roof of furniture shop destroyed as burglars strike twice

Detectives of Heidelberg SAPS on Wednesday April 4 arrested three security guards in connection with two separate burglaries at Bradlows Furniture store.

According to police the accused gained entry to the shop during the first break-in on 29 March by removing the roller doors with a cutting torch.

During that incident six flatscreen televisions and other items totaling R43 000 were stolen.

On April 2 the suspects struck again and on this occasion they forced open the roof of the  furniture shop.

“The roof zinc was cut-off open and suspects gained entrance. They took three laptops and a flatscreen television with an estimated value of R35 000-00,” police spokesman Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate said in a statement.

Tshilate said that with the information received from the community that was followed-up by Captain Senzosenkosi Shabane, Captain Mphegolle Maphutha and W/O David Moloi  the three security guards who work at reputable firms in town were arrested.

Two of the suspected (aged 27 and 30) were arrested on April 3 while on duty and the third (a 46 year old man) was arrested at his home in Ratanda.

A hi-fi which was stolen during the first robbery was found at the Ratanda house.

The Eurhuleni East Cluster Commander Major General Girly Mumsy Mbele and her Deputy Cluster Commander Operational Brigadier Jeshop Remember Shabangu appreciated and congratulated the quick and thorough work the officer’s from Heidelberg Detectives conducted.
