EMPD appoints 14 officers into crucial superintendent posts
Six of the newly-appointed superintendents conferred with their ranks in February are females.
The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) has appointed 14 officers into vacant superintendent posts at this important junior-management level to give vital assistance to precinct commanders in the operations division in order to ensure effective management and good service delivery.
Six of the newly-appointed superintendents conferred with their ranks in February are females. All the appointees promoted are from within the EMPD. They all have been taken through intensive and rigorous training to hone their managerial, technical and communication skills in preparation for their new responsibilities .

All the promoted superintendents will be occupying positions in the operations division. Eight will be assisting chief superintendents at precincts, one at land invasion and the rest within specialised services which include OR Tambo International, First Responder Unit (FRU), Public Order Policing (POPS) and K9 units.
The appointments were effective from 01 February 2019.
