Carlisle Stud and Equestrian Park outside Heidelberg on the Boschfontein Road will be competing in the Inter Provincials and South African Junior and Pony Rider Championships Eventing combined show in George, Western Cape from 21-24 June. Six riders and 11 horses from Carlisle will be competing at the event.
Eventing is made up of three disciplines, dressage, show jumping and cross country. The six riders going down to George are Anneke Joubert (17) riding Carlisle’s Sebastian in the 70cm Junior class, Chané Smit (17) riding Carlisle’s Anuk in the 70cm and Baikalt Sea in the 90cm Junior classes, Tamara van Vuuren (16) riding Midgard Althea in the 80cm and Levi in the 70cm Junior classes, Lalie van der Merwe (10) riding Delia in the 70cm Pony Rider class, Casey-Leigh Smit (11) riding Flicka Speed in the 80cm and Miss Molly Malone in the 70cm Pony Rider class and lastly, Adrienne MacDonald-Hutcheson (11) riding Lang Carel Wildebees in the 70cm, Waterford Chocolate in the 80cm and Waterford Flash in the 90cm Pony Rider classes.

“Our riders are very hard working and exceptionally dedicated to both their horses and sport and are well deserving of this opportunity to hold both Gauteng and Heidelberg’s name high. We wish them the best of luck and are very proud of them,’’ Michelle MacDonald-Hutcheson, (instructor) said.
Being eligible to compete at a show of this calibre is a great achievement which comes at a great cost. Carlisle Stud and Equestrian Park will be hosting several fun-filled fundraisers to raise the funds needed to make this possible for their riders. The fundraisers are open to everyone to enjoy. There will be a Spinathon at VitaFit Gym on June 6, pony walks at The Angelo Mall’s 10th birthday on June 29 and pony rides at the Varkfees on September 6 and 7.

The community is encouraged to support these fun-filled fundraisers. Donations are also welcome, please phone Tanya Smit on 060 975 4514/tanyasmi15@gmail.com. Keep an eye on Carlisle Stud and Equestrian Park’s Facebook page for more information regarding the fundraisers (www.facebook.com/carlisle.stud).
