Join our car boot sale at the old jail on June 8
The Old Jail in Jordaan Street is still not for sale, but we will once again be selling all sorts of goods at the historic building on June 8 (Saturday) from 08:30 until 13:30.
HERAUT’s Car Boot Sale last month turned out to be a great outing for the bargain hunters out there. From well-priced silver jewellery, to some very interesting paintings and general home ware, clothes, delicious jams and sauces – there definitely was something for everyone.
Bargain hunters had a field day as some of the car boot owners insisted that they would not take any of their unwanted items home and sold off whole lots of items for next to nothing.
The South African Women’s Federation (SAVF) used the Car Boot Sale to generate some much needed funds by baking pancakes, while the custodians of the Old Jail, the MOTHs, prepared hamburgers and hot dogs that were devoured by the dozen.
In some cases while the ladies did what they do best (gatherers love to shop) the men were treated to a tour of the historic building by Jackie Janse van Rensburg.
As most participants at the previous Car Boot Sale found, this unique market provides residents with an ideal opportunity to de-clutter their homes while earning a few extra rands at the same time.
There is still space for a few more vehicles (or stalls) to reserve their places and we would like to invite all our readers and advertisers to come and meet the HERAUT team on the day. There is also space available for individuals selling wood (just in time for the winter months), biltong or homemade rusks, art, furniture, handmade craft and pre-loved winter clothing.
