Captain Madeleine von Wielligh (acting spokesperson: Heidelberg SAPS) said protestors are running amok, burning tyres and throwing rocks at police and motorists.

Extension 23 residents told HERAUT that they are protesting against Lesedi Local Municipality for disconnecting their electricity. Katleho Seaga (acting spokesman: LLM) confirmed that the electricity of non-paying residents were disconnected.
