HEIDELBERG: Protest action on Vaaldam Road gaining momentum
Please avoid the Vaaldam Road (intersection at Shalimar Ridge up to Ratanda Extension 7) at all cost. Transport to Heidelberg could not get through this morning due to protest action in Ratanda, Extension 23. Police and traffic are monitoring the situation.
HERAUT learned that residents from Extension 23 whose electricity was disconnected were not satisfied with Lesedi Local Municipality’s negotiation meeting yesterday and the protest action has now escalated. They are now refusing to let LLM on the scene and demand to meet with Eskom.
All routes to and from Ratanda have been barred and vehicles (including taxis) are prohibited from using the road.
