Tiger Brands looks after Ratanda learners in Heidelberg

Learners and families in need of Ratanda Primary School benefit from programme.

Tiger Brands in conjunction with the Department of Basic Education is still looking after learners of Ratanda Primary School.

Mr Timothy Mashinini (headmaster) says the school was awarded by the department and Tiger Brands as the winning school in the 2017/18 National School Nutrition Programme and received (as part of their prize) a brand new state of the art kitchen earlier this year.

“We are thankful for their involvement in providing breakfast and lunch to our 1 362 learners,” Mr Mashinini said.
Mrs Phindile Mphuthi (nutrition coordinator of the school) says the contribution has made it possible to give out monthly food parcels to families of the school who don’t have a regular income.

The school is a no-fee school and Mr Mashinini says there are many destitute families in the area who would have had nothing to eat if it was not for Tiger Brands’ involvement.
