Local Mrs SA contestant needs your vote

37-Year-old full-time mother Corlett du Preez from Nigel (Gauteng) has been announced as a 2020 Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa top semi-finalist. This from a record number of entries received by the organisation.

Her journey began on February following this she attended an empowerment workshop to prepare her for the journey ahead. Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa prides itself on producing the very best in real, relatable and modern South African women. The program celebrates marriage and the essence of being a Bonafide woman.

The program was created for married women who would ordinarily not have such a platform to compete and be ambassadors for South Africa, on a global scale. Women find themselves again and learn that they are never too old to follow their dreams and become voices of change.

“I was both surprised and overjoyed to have been chosen as a top semi-finalist because I didn’t believe I would make the cut. Hearing my name called out was without a price tag. There are however, many tasks and expectations ahead of us, but surely a life-changing journey I look forward to,” Corlett said.

Only 25 women will be selected to continue the journey as finalists for Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa. They will be announced at the annual charity ball on June 26 at Centre Court, Emperors Palace All proceeds of this event will go to the pageant’s official NPO, Women4Women South Africa.
Married to local general practitioner Dr Jan du Preez, Corlett was raised in Nigel and more recently became a photographer. She is a 50% shareholder in a local aesthetics company.

“A good friend encouraged me to enter the pageant. After reading more about it on the Mrs SA website, I realised it is not only a beauty pageant, but a curriculum to do so much more to empower women. Being an average woman I fully understand the struggles not to lose your own identity and strength in the process of juggling being a wife, mother and entrepreneur,” she said.

Corlett believes she would be an ambitious, aspiring and committed ambassador for the pageant and proud to represent Nigel and Heidelberg at this stage of the competition. Her goal is to show the nation that Nigel and Heidelberg are not just small towns, but communities that support and uplift each other.
She also thanked her sponsors Wollie and Amelia Wolmerans, Dr Jan du Preez, JP Okes and Cois Kruger, Savvah and Jimmy Georgiou.

However, to bring the crown home, Corlett needs your vote, which can be done by logging onto the Mrs South Africa Facebook page and to like her picture.
