Local Mrs SA contestant needs your vote

Earlier this year, Corlett du Preez was announced as a 2020 Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa top semi-finalist.

Her journey began in February and it was required of her to regularly attend workshops and promote the pageant in person through charity work and other local interactions.

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown regulations, she had to adapt to a new normal where social distancing and the wearing of masks became part of her daily routine.

“The competition is still running, but a few small changes have been made. Our focus has shifted towards social media and virtual workshops with scheduled events being postponed,” Corlett explained.

Should the Covid-19 pandemic take a negative turn for the worst, the top 25 finalists will in all probability be judged virtually. Finalists were originally to be announced at a charity ball on June 26, but the virtual event will be moved to a later date. Crowning of the winner was also moved to 2021. Meanwhile, Corlett’s responsibilities as an ambassador for Mrs SA continues.

“We have daily campaigns and assignments to complete. Our main responsibility is to raise funds for our journey ahead, as well as the non-profit organisation Women4women.”

Corlett admitted that the lockdown has been a challenge so far, as no woman can honestly say that she feels on top of the world every day.

“Apart from being an ambassador for Mrs SA, we must manage our households, attend to homeschooling and continue to be entrepreneurs. There are days when I just want to walk around in my pyjamas or stay in bed, but one of our campaigns require that we get up and dress up, even if you have nowhere to go,” she laughingly admitted.

Not being able to attend a hair or beauty salon or the gym also proves challenging, but Corlett makes most of it by following video tutorials and exercising at home.
Corlett needs your vote to reach the top 25 finalists stage of the competition.
