Relief fund recipients que for hours at Post Office
Recipients of Covid-19 relief funds queued in front of Heidelberg Post Office in Voortrekker Street on October 13 and 14 to no avail.
“We received notification via SMS that our grants are ready to be collected and we walked from Ratanda at 3am to queue at the post office. When we eventually got to the counter, the post office officials told us that there is no money to pay us,” one of the complainants said.

Residents queued for hours at the post office in Voortrekker street to be told by officials that the post office does not have cash to pay out grants.
Two of the complainants came to HERAUT in an attempt for help. They told HERAUT that the post office seems to be out of cash. “The pandemic affected us badly and we need the grants to care for our families,” another complainant added.
The complainants said the post office officials could not provide a proper explanation why the grants could not be paid out as they were only told to come back another time.
