GALLERY: Performance awarded at Life Suikerbos Hospital
Life Suikerbos Hospital celebrated good work, long service, and top performers at their awards ceremony on November 27.
This prestigious ceremony was coordinated by Frieda Daschner. After she welcomed everyone, Christine Beyers opened the proceedings with the words of Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd”.
“The past year was challenging in different aspects. Our mission at Life Suikerbos is to make life better. We are proud of everyone who worked harder and longer hours to ensure our mission is fulfilled,” Christine said.
The Life Suikerbos Choir performed and opened the platform to Kubashnee Naidoo, hospital manager, who spoke about the nomination process. To be recognised as a top performer, you need to do over and above of what you normally do. Being professional at all times, taking pride in what you do, working extra shifts with love and care.
Criteria such as scorecard, overtime, stock variances and alertness also influenced nominations.
“We are all pilots of a plane. Just like passengers who put their trust in a pilot when flying, so does each patient put their trust in us,” Kubashnee said. She expressed her appreciation to all the staff and thanked the leaders for their commitment.
“Each and every staff member or worker at the hospital adds value to someone’s life and therefore everyone is important,” Kubashnee added.
Eric Obeng, engineering manager, spoke about being appreciated as an employee.
“To work for a company that appreciates you is an honour and to be a top achiever in a challenging year is a great achievement,” Eric said.
He asked for a minute of silence in honour of those who lost their lives due to Covid-19, the doctors, nurses and patients.
Dr Thinus Kruger was the guest of honour. He congratulated all the nominees and spoke about a very difficult year that taught us to be thankful for what we have.
The top performers were:
• Top student: Edna Ngede
• Head of department: Sr Ilana de Wet
• Best clinical department: Maternity Ward
• Top non-clinical department: Patient Services
• Best outsources department: Bidvest Cleaning.
The lifetime partnership awards went to Lebo Tlaka (Patient Services) and Marisa Jooste (Outsource Services).
Performance Pride awards went to Doulene Grobbelaar (nursing: acting night supervisor) and Patricia Mpanza (General Ward).
The quality award went to Susan Schneider (Nursing Theatre).
Long-service awards were awarded for five and 10 years.
P Becker, H Bester, A du Preez, L. Maphumulo, CS Venter, NS Yaka and NM Zwane received long service awards for five years and A Cronje, I de Wet, MS Mabuza, VM Mogatoe, MS Motloung, R Simango, C van der Merwe and C Wilmot for 10 years.
With another performance by the Life Suikerbos Choir, the ceremony was concluded.
