Greylingstad SAPS celebrate victory in court ruling

Station commander of the Greylingstad SAPS Capt Sam Sam Tshabalala has applauded Det Sgt Mpostoli Justice Letshela for her work in the successful conviction of Themba Amos, who was found guilty of murder on February 4.

Amos (24) fatally attacked 41-year-old Motlalepula Mohomane outside a local tavern in Nthorwane in 2019.
The two men were involved in an altercation when Amos assaulted his girlfriend and Mohomane came to her aid.

Mohomane was attacked from behind and left unconscious on the side of the road along Nthorwane Sechaba Drive.

A local spotted the victim and immediately called the police.

Mohomane suffered a fatal injury to the back of his head and Amos was arrested on July 15, 2019. After his appearance in the Balfour District Court on February 4, he was found guilty of murder and assault.

He was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for murder and six years for assault, which included the case opened against him by his girlfriend and a separate assault case stemming from 2018.
