Chance Children’s Home and Nurturing Centre calls for board member applications in Dunnottar

A well-established children’s home in Dunnottar is inviting passionate and skilled individuals to join its board and help make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable children, with applications closing on April 20.

Chance Children’s Home and Nurturing Centre in Dunnottar has opened applications for new board members, calling on passionate and skilled individuals to help guide the future of the long-standing childcare facility.

The centre has, for more than two decades, provided care, protection and support to about 90 children between the ages of two and 18, many of whom are orphans or come from backgrounds of abuse or neglect.

The organisation is now seeking to strengthen its leadership by appointing dedicated board members who can contribute their expertise and support its mission of creating a safe and nurturing environment for every child.

Manager Esmeralda McDonald said the initiative offers community members a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting difference.

“We are looking for individuals who are not only skilled, but who genuinely care about the well-being and future of the children we serve. Being part of the board is about more than governance; it is about helping to guide a home where children feel safe, valued and loved.

“Our board members play a vital role in ensuring that we continue to grow, improve and respond to the needs of every child who comes through our doors. When the community steps in, children are given a better chance at life. By joining our board, you are becoming part of a support system that helps shape brighter futures for vulnerable children,” she said.

Applicants must reside within the surrounding region, although they do not need to be based in Dunnottar. Interested candidates are required to submit a comprehensive CV, along with certified copies of their identity documents and qualifications.

Applications can be delivered to the Chance offices at the corner of Vlakfontein and Nigel roads between 08:00 and 16:00, with the closing date set for April 20.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo a screening process, followed by vetting and verification.

For more information, applicants can email info@chancechildrenshome.org or contact the centre on 010 979 0001.
