Nigel Methodist Church hosts celebration concert

Music Treasures Concert at Nigel Methodist Church.

Nigel Methodist Church held a celebratory concert at their premises on May 13.

The concert was part of the 120-year celebrations since the foundation stones of the church were laid by the Free Masons in 1903.

Tieghi said when she came up with the idea, she met with an ex Nigel resident piano player of distinction, Marius Bierman. Together they got the wheels turning.

Bierman got in contact with other artists who agreed to join in on the festivities.

The artists who graced the stage were Bierman, Tracy-Lee Booyens (mezzo soprano), Andries Aldrich (baritone) and Paddy Jeffrey (piano accompanist).

Various different musical pieces were performed by the musicians. From Frank Sinatra’s My Way to music from South Pacific, an Abba medley and opera pieces to name a few.

After the concert each and every musician got a standing ovation and the attendees begged for more.
