Prepaid electricity meters to be updated

Current meters will stop working toward the end of next year.

Current electricity meters will automatically stop working by November 24 next year because of a date rollover problem unless each meter is updated.

The date issue means residents won’t be able to load electricity on meters after the November 2024 deadline.

The Token Identifier (TID) rollover programme that the city uses to update the electricity meters will continue until the deadline.

Tokens purchased but not entered into the meter before the deadline will be invalid.

When buying your first electricity after the system settings, you will receive a receipt showing three tokens. Once you have entered the sequence as printed, the update will take about two minutes to process.

This change will affect all 11-digit prepaid meter customers, not only the CoE prepaid meters.

The process will start in the Edenvale and Nigel areas on June 1. Starting dates for other areas will soon be communicated.

For more information about this migration, log on to tidrollover.com or the STS Association website.

Alternatively, call your nearest customer care centre.
