Local business gives back to the community

Three cars were up for grabs.

A street festival on October 28 saw the town rocking.

Local vehicle dealership AutoCity reached out with a programme called AutoCity Cares where they went into the community to provide assistance.

The group held an event where NPOs and schools sold raffle tickets for three cars to be won.

Money raised through the sale of tickets did not benefit AutoCity but helped the NPOs and schools’ coffers to be used as they deemed appropriate.

Francois Heins, marketing manager, said, “We have close to 11 different dealership branches in three towns in the area, Alberton, Nigel and Heidelberg. The growth of the various towns and being part of the town structure is something very close to our hearts.

“We want to see progress in each town and the growth we have seen is pleasing.”

Dirkie Grobler, AutoCity management, said, “We want to give back to the community yearly. There are plans afoot for a car giveaway in April and again in September. The community has supported us so well in the past that we want to give back to them as well. ”

Three artists performed on the day. Phinda Mzala Dance group first entertained with their dance steps, thereafter Anzelle entertained the crowd by singing various hits and Pieter Koen finished off the entertainment.
It was followed by the vehicle prize draws.

The lucky car winners were Ruan Gouws from Balfour, whose mother claimed the prize on his behalf, Bianca Naude from Hoërskool Dinamika in Alberton and Cyril Rooseldt.
