SAPS spotlights GBVF

People should report all GBV- and femicide-related crimes to the SAPS.

The Devon SAPS conducted a gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) awareness campaign at the Devon Business Centre on February 13.

Social crime prevention co-ordinator and communication officer Constable Yvone Skosana, GBV brigades Thoko Malinga, Modiehi Mosia, Prudence Skweyiya and community patrollers participated in the campaign.

The information they relayed on GBVF was that breaking the silence is crucial.

“Each one has a task to report GBV and femicide when it happens. Silence in these cases will not solve any problems. The guilty must be brought to book. All cases will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and, if preferred, can be done anonymously,” said the Devon SAPS acting station commander, Warrant Officer Mbongiseni Zwane.
