“At the end of every October, we host a festival feast where we sell a variety of items such as food, clothing, art, household equipment, and electronic devices.

“All the elderly residents donate items they no longer need, and we sell the items at affordable prices.

Resident Stephnie van Niekerk enjoys the lively atmosphere at the festival feast and fundraiser event.

“Many visitors from outside come by, and all the money from the sales goes back to supporting the elderly with lodging and other basic needs.

“We currently have 160 residents living here. The women enjoy needlework and crocheting, while the men have their own hobbies to keep them busy,” said Watts.

Magda Botha was among the vendors on the day.

Bets van der Nest, chairperson of the retirement village, expressed gratitude to the community for their continued support.

“We thank everyone who supports this initiative. Elderly people are important members of our society, and they should be cherished.”

A resident, Brandt Strydom, shared a heartfelt message: “I wish everyone the best and a happy festive season.”

Resident Brandt Strydom sent warm festive wishes to everyone attending the event.

A local vendor, Teliza Botha, also encouraged community involvement.
