Heidelberg residents roll up sleeves for cleaner streets with Skoon Heidelberg

Volunteers once again took to the streets, proving that small efforts can make a big difference.

Volunteers of Skoon Heidelberg were out in full force recently, cleaning along Smit Street across from the Total Garage.

This is part of their remarkable decade-long mission to keep Heidelberg clean and litter-free.

The community-driven initiative meets every Thursday from 08:00 to 09:00 to remove litter from public spaces across the town.

For over 10 years, residents have devoted their time to this cause, demonstrating that sustained effort can have a lasting impact.

Charlotte Cloete, one of the dedicated volunteers, encouraged more residents to get involved.

“Join us and make a difference because there is no point in complaining about what is wrong if you are not willing to do something about it. Cleaning up the streets might seem like a small act, but when we all contribute, it adds up to a big change. It’s also a wonderful way to meet people, connect with your neighbours, and show pride in the place we call home. Every little effort counts, and together we can keep our town beautiful for everyone,” she said.

The weekly initiative has not only helped maintain a cleaner environment but has also fostered a strong sense of community among Heidelberg residents.

The volunteers’ continued dedication serves as an inspiring example of civic pride and active citizenship. For those interested in joining the weekly clean-up efforts, Charlotte Cloete can be contacted on 083 488 5337.
