Nigel Local Football Association Super League begins with mixed start

The Nigel Local Football Association Super League officially kicked off on March 8 at Ground 1, but several opening-round matches were decided by walkovers as some teams had not yet completed their MYSAFA player registrations.

The Nigel Local Football Association Super League officially kicked off on March 8, with the opening round of fixtures played at Ground 1 in Nigel.

The start of the new season marked an important moment for local football as teams gathered to begin the campaign and compete for early points on the league table.

However, several matches in the opening round were decided by walkovers after some teams had not yet completed registering their players on the MYSAFA player registration system.

League regulations require all players to have valid MYSAFA cards before participating in official matches. Teams that had not finalised their registrations were therefore unable to field eligible players, resulting in walkovers.

Despite the administrative challenges, the opening round produced the following results: Italian 2 Touch defeated Young Ones 2–0 by walkover; Y.O.T.M. recorded a 2–0 walkover victory against Inter Milan; and Mlando secured a 2–0 walkover win over Manhattan.

The only match played with both teams present was between T. Vultures and Regal. The match proved to be an exciting contest, with T. Vultures securing a hard-fought 2–1 victory to claim the three points.

Members of the Nigel Local Football Association executive were present during the first round to ensure that league rules and regulations were followed.

The association has encouraged all teams to complete their player registrations on the MYSAFA system ahead of the next round of fixtures to prevent further walkovers and ensure that matches are decided on the field.

The NLFA Super League is expected to continue in the coming weeks as teams look to build momentum in the early stages of the 2026 season.
