Police have requested anyone with information on the possible identity of the body of an African male that was found lying near the railway line in Havenga Street at about 8am on 1 September last year to come forward.

The deceased was clothed in a white T-shirt with a checked over-shirt and khaki trousers. A case of murder is being investigated. Phone W/O A.Z. Phiri at 071 677 1466.

Diesel theft

Guards at the Ntshudisane truck depot near Nyebe were overpowered by two unknown assailants shortly after midnight on Sunday 26 January.

One guard was held by one of the assailants while the other guard on foot patrol was held at gunpoint by the second assailant and taken back to the guardhouse. They were then handcuffed and ordered to lie down. One of the assailants made a phone call and shortly afterwards a truck entering the premises. It was later discovered that about 8 900 litres of diesel worth R124 000 was stolen.

Tuck shop robbery

Police also require information on a robbery that took place at a tuck shop in Wesselton’s Mathebula Street around 7pm on Friday, 24 January.

Three suspects approached the shop and while one of the men, who was armed, kept a lookout at the entrance, the other two entered the shop and stole cell phones and cigarettes to the value of R10 000. Anyone who can assist the police with information is asked to phone Lt N.K. Vilakazi at 017 819 2321.

Rape suspect arrested

On Saturday night a woman who was waiting for a lift home outside a filling station in Joubert Street was approached by four men in a black VW Golf sedan.

Instead of driving the woman to her home as requested, the men drove her to a house in Wesselton. One of the suspects forced the woman into the house while the others drove off. The suspect then allegedly raped the woman at gunpoint.

The woman later made her way to the police station where she laid a charge of rape. A man was later arrested in connection with the incident.
