Police nab suspected dagga dealers on N17

They are also suspected of having entered SA illegally and face charges in this regard.

Two suspects were taken into custody after they were found in possession of 63,15kg of compacted dagga at a stop-and-search operation on the N17 outside Ermelo last Friday.

The dagga has an estimated street value of more than R63 000.

The suspects, both Swazi citizens, appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of dealing in dagga.

They are also suspected of having entered SA illegally and face charges in this regard.

Capt K.J. Mpanyane of the Ermelo Police told the Highvelder a taxi was stopped and a routine search of the occupants’ baggage was carried out.

The dagga was found in two large sport bags belonging to the two suspects.
