While going about their normal crime prevention duties at 01:30 on Monday morning, Consts Khomola, Yende and Nkosi from the Sheepmoor Police Station stopped and searched a truck travelling on the N2 from Piet Retief to Ermelo.
The officials found a bag of dagga with an estimated street value of R45 000 hidden in a bag in the back of the truck.
The truck driver told the police that the bag belonged to Lizwe Sphamandla Ndamane whom he had offered a ride.
Ndamane (25) was arrested and appeared in the Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court later the same day. The case was postponed to 21 July for bail application.
