Dagga smuggler sentenced to 10 years

Sheepmoore – Sheepmoor Police reacting to a tip-off from the community arrested a suspect in possession of 10 bags of dagga weighing 153,3kg with an estimated street value of R150 000.

Cija Nyoka (29) from Johannesburg was charged and sentenced by the Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court for the illegal possession of dagga to 10 years’ imprisonment or a R100 000 fine with five years suspended.

He was arrested on 30 July along the N2 road near Sheepmoor, appeared in the Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 1 August where his case was postponed to 4 August when he pleaded guilty and was sentenced.
