Ms Nompumelelo Kuhlase, a finalist in the South African Ultimate Brand Ambassador (SAUBA) competition, recently hosted a gala dinner in aid of Gender Based Violence at the Gert Sibande District Mayoral Parlour.
Former victims of gender-based violence who were sexually, emotionally and physically abused took turns on the stage reliving their ordeal and sharing how they overcame their fear and the support they received to get to where they are.
During the event, different stakeholders explained the kind of support they offer victims. The Thuthuzela Care Centre at the Ermelo Provincial Hospital and the police’s victims’ empowerment programmes were explained to the attendees.
Ms Kuhlase has been doing charity work for the past five years and has spent her time and money where necessary to ensure those in need have something to get by. She has also put her modelling talent to good use and benefits those around her.
She is currently in the top six of the SAUBA competition representing Mpumalanga where their challenges include doing charity work in their respective communities.
SAUBA is a mentorship and leadership programme for women. The contestants were handpicked by a search throughout the country.
The aim of the show is to interlink social and corporate sectors while benefiting local communities and different charities.
The reality competition series will conclude with a gala dinner where the winner will be announced.
Ms Kuhlase encourages young and old to make it a habit to assist those in need and thanks all the sponsors who have assisted her during her journey thus far.
