The occupants of two motor vehicles were lucky to escape serious injury in yet another accident at the notorious bend in Camden Avenue shortly after 19:00 on Saturday evening.

The occupants of two motor vehicles were lucky to escape serious injury in yet another accident at the notorious bend in Camden Avenue shortly after 19:00 on Saturday evening.

Both vehicles were severely damaged in the incident.

According to the driver of one of the vehicles, his vehicle developed mechanical trouble and came to a standstill in the roadway just after the bend in the road near the Pick n Pay Centre.

The driver of the other vehicle rounded the bend at speed and slammed into the rear of his vehicle. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and it came to a standstill on its roof.

Residents in the area have once again voiced their concern about the number of accidents that occur at regular intervals near the bend and have called on the municipality to build speed inhibitors in the road or to introduce a three-way stop street at the intersection with Mel Mentz Street.
