Station commander presents awards
This is the time for reflection on the year's achievements
The outgoing Ermelo Station Commander, Col Z.W. (Winnie) Mavuso, hosted the Station Commander’s Awards at the Mayoral Parlour in Ermelo last Wednesday.
Giving her last speech, Col Zwane said the awards were to recognise hard work and reward excellence.
She encouraged everyone to remember the members that have passed on and to support whomever will be acting in the position.
“I want to express my deepest appreciation to everyone, from senior management to the cleaner and tea lady. This is the time for reflection on the year’s achievements and to also thank the different stakeholders,” she said.
She also mentioned the arrival of Lt J.J. Mahlangu in the Detectives’ Unit. “I like your firmness.
The effect is already showing in the unit,” said Col Zwane.
She also spoke on crime prevention, members’ reaction time, community involvement and other departments.
Capt C. Kemp, Maj S.J. Thela and W/O D. Sibeko all received the Station Commander Merit Awards.
Capt Kemp is commander in charge of firearms licences, liquor licences and second-hand goods.
Maj. S.J. Thela is the commander of the Visible Policing Unit and W/O D. Sibeko is Community Policing Officer.
Col Zwane encouraged those who did not receive anything to work harder, but she told them to bear in mind that their contributions do not go unnoticed.
She also thanked the prayer team that has been her source of inspiration, especially the morning prayers.
