Two crashes claim eight lives

Eight people have died and four seriously injured in two separate crashes.

Eight people have died and four seriously injured in two separate crashes in Middleburg.

The first crash happened on Saturday on the N4 Toll road near ALZU filling station where four vehicles collided after overtaking each other.

In the incident, five people were killed instantly and two were hospitalised with serious injuries.

Another crash happened on Sunday in Middleburg CBD where a vehicle overturned killing three occupants instantly and two passengers were critically injured and hospitalised.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Vusi Shongwe sent his condolences to the bereaved families. He also said road fatalities should be prevented.

He also wished those who were hospitalised speedy recovery.
