Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has expressed concern in the hike of fuel prices and are also worried with the adverse effects this will have on low-income earners.
The Department of Energy recently announced yet another fuel price increase this month. IFP leader in the KZN legislature, Mr Blessed Gwala said the rise in fuel prices will lead to increased transport costs which will have a negative impact on basic commodities.
“A rise in the price of basic necessities such as bread, maize sugar and other foods will result in these items being un-affordable to the majority of people,” said Mr Gwala.
