Breyten police seek help to identify deceased man
Police are seeking witnesses and information to identify a man who died after being struck by a vehicle near the Breyten turn-off.
BREYTEN – Breyten police are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying a man who died in a suspected hit-and-run incident on the N11 between Ermelo and Hendrina.
Police were alerted by a member of the community at about 19:30 on Friday, June 26, following reports of a suspected vehicle accident near the turn-off to Breyten.
On arrival at the scene, police found a man lying on the road. He was wearing a black jersey, grey track pants and white Adidas tekkies.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced the man dead at the scene.
According to police, nothing was found in the man’s possession that could assist with establishing his identity.
It is suspected that the man was struck by a vehicle whose driver failed to stop at the scene.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist in identifying the deceased or tracing the vehicle involved to come forward.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise, appealed to the community to assist police in this matter.
“We are adamant that, through collaboration between SAPS members and communities, the suspect will soon be brought to book,” Modise said.
