Lucky escape for driver and passengers

A passenger suffered moderate to light injuries while the driver and a second passenger escaped uninjured when the vehicle they were travelling crashed into the side of a truck on the N2 between Ermelo and Piet Retief Ermelo on Tuesday evening.

The accident occurred about 8 km outside Ermelo.

The injured passenger was taken to the Ermelo Provincial Hospital for treatment.

Rescue workers on the scene believe the occupants were extremely lucky to have escaped serious injury due to the fact that the vehicle was travelling slowly.

Motorists are advised to be extremely cautious when travelling on this stretch of road. The road is currently undergoing repairs and long sections are without painted lines.
