Msukaligwa Municipality launches Satise Silalele

Satise Silalele is a service delivery app with which residents are able to report service delivery issues to government through different channels using mobile phones (smart and USSD), social media, online and over the counter.

The Mpumalanga Smart Citizen Application Project, known as Satise Silalele, was launched by the Mpumalanga Office of the Premier at the Msukaligwa Local Municipality last Wednesday.

Satise Silalele is a service delivery app with which residents are able to report service delivery issues like housing, health care or municipal matters to government through different channels using mobile phones (smart and USSD), social media, online and over the counter.

The app has been launched throughout municipalities in Mpumalanga and Msukaligwa Municipality has joined the bandwagon. The project was announced by the premier, Mr D.D Mabuza, during the 2017 State of the Province Address as one of the key projects to be implemented during the 2017/18 financial year.

It is aimed at allowing residents to communicate with their leaders.

Through this app, senior provincial government officials and management can use the SmartInsight reporting tool to monitor requests, track the efficiency of the resolution process and identify trends for improved planning.

Users can report problems with the app being able to trace the complaints in the exact location where they are reported.

It allows residents to make use of government facilities, from healthcare to community halls, in their area and communicate with their leaders.

The app will be able to know and view incident details around one’s area and trace resolved and unresolved incidents.

This is how the Satise Silalele App will work on your phone: you download the app on your Android/iPhone smartphone and use the app to log or report your incident to the municipality. You will receive an SMS notification with a reference number and the municipality will send details of your incident to a field worker to attend to your incident. Ward councillors will have a view of the logged incidents through the Web-based reporting tool and once your incident has been resolved, you will be notified via SMS.

If one does not have a smartphone, one is can simply dial *134*674# to report the incident, then follow the same process as a smartphone except one uses SMS instead of e-mail.

This comes as Msukaligwa Municipality ushers in the digital era, with smart meters to be installed in this financial year. The municipality supplies and installs fully integrated smart meters at no cost to customers, home owners, businesses and other all other users of electricity.

It also means water and light bills will be e-mailed directly to municipal services users as reported last week in the Highvelder. The municipality urges residents to update their personal details, including e-mail accounts, in order for such to happen.

According to municipal spokesman Mr Mandla Zwane, consumers will no longer have to wait in queues or make calls to the call centre as they will have control of their smart meters, consumption, cost and report incidents from any location with all these tools on hand. Satise Silalele accommodates a variety of languages and can be downloaded from the Play Store or communities may forward their complaints by dialing the following USSD no.*134*674# at a cost of 20c worth of data.
