Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) appointed Mr Zakhele Buthelezi as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) last Monday, 4 December.
This was following the finalisation of all recruitment processes according to Section 56 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act no. 32 of 2000 and relevant regulations.
His appointment is in line with the council resolution taken on 30 August during the sitting of the Gert Sibande District Council.
Mr Absenia Habile, warmly welcomed Mr Buthelezi and introduced him to the team of employees.

Mr Habile noted during his welcoming remarks that this was a step closer to filling all Section 56 positions which were currently vacant.
The position of the CFO has been vacant since the beginning of September following the end of employment contract of Mr Anoj Singh.
Mr Buthelezi’s work experience includes work done as Senior Manager: Audit in the Office of the Auditor-General.
“I look forward to working with all of you,” Mr Buthelezi briefly said during a special staff meeting where he was introduced.
