The Msukaligwa Municipality recently launched a campaign to keep the Ermelo environment clean.
They have issued a notice for scheduled times of refuse removal as part of their efforts.
Workers from the CWP-group began to clean up illegal dumping sites around Wesselton on Wednesday, 7 March.
The municipal spokesman, Mr Mandla Zwane said the municipality’s effort can only be achieved through community participation and that refuse and solid waste collection form part of their campaign.
“We appeal to all residents to support these initiatives by placing refuse in proper areas for collection.”

Mr Zwane expressed concerns about rubbish dumping in areas not designed for such purposes.
He warned everybody that action will be taken against residents who contravene the municipal bylaws that regulate dumping of waste.
“Section 22 of the Refuse (Solid Waste) Municipal bylaws forbids illegal dumping of waste,” he also said.
According to him, the municipality is concerned about illegal dumping sites which not only cause environmental pollution, but also pose serious health hazards.
Mr Zwane added that the municipality will soon embark on a campaign to clamp down on illegal dumping sites.
