EFF leads community of Enyibe in march over lack of service delivery

The party was adamant that Enyibe must be included in the current municipal budget.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) led the community of Ward 16 (Enyibe) as they peacefully marched to the Msukaligwa Municipal offices on Friday, 11 May to hand over a memorandum about the lack of service delivery in the area.

This came as the party and the community are getting increasingly frustrated with the poor management of service delivery and appealed to the municipality to prioritise their pleas.

The march began in Enyibe and went through the streets of Ermelo, with marchers singing struggle songs.

Residents from Enyibe march to the municipal offices to hand over a memorandum with a list of demands to tackle the lack of service delivery in their area.

In the memorandum they put forward a list of demands that included:

• Electricity as Enyibe currently has none.

• Road infrastructure.

• Sewerage system.

• Redistribution of land.

The party was adamant that Enyibe must be included in the current municipal budget.

However, the municipality is in a conundrum over Enyibe situated on a farm with private ownership, an excuse that the protesting group did not care about.

“The municipality must apply the very same method it used to install high mast lights and sending water to Enyibe,” the party said.

Msukaligwa’s manager in the office of the executive mayor, Mr Philemon Makhubu, accepted the memorandum on the mayor’s behalf.

The party has given Council 14 working days to respond.
