Msukaligwa Municipality will still deliver these services during the national lockdown

The municipality will ensure that essential services are rendered uninterrupted to the communities during the lockdown.

Msukaligwa Municipality has put measures into place to ensure essential services are provided to residents in the area.

The municipality will ensure that essential services are rendered uninterrupted to the communities during the lockdown.

Municipal employees will be identifiable through name tags or identification cards.

• ELECTRICITY

All municipal technicians will be at work or on standby during the lockdown.

• WATER & SANITATION

The municipality increased the water supply to areas that used to receive water through water tankers once a week, to every second day.

Communities are urged not to pay for water and to report such incidents to the Director of Technical Services.

All residents are urged to use the water sparingly.

Employees of sanitation services will also be at work or on standby during the lockdown.

• SOLID WASTE REMOVAL

Domestic and business solid waste removal will not be affected and collection will continue as per the normal schedule.

• CEMETERIES, CREMATORIA AND FUNERALS

Bereaved families will be able to purchase a grave from Monday to Friday at the municipal office between 8am to 12am.

During funerals, affected families are encouraged to observe the recommended hygiene practices and limit the number of mourners to family members only, or to restrict the mourners to not more than 50 and to keep a register of the mourners.

• PAY-POINTS

Access to municipal pay points will be available from 8am to 12am on Monday to Friday, for the purchase of prepaid electricity.

The public is encouraged to use alternatives such as ATM’s and online banking to purchase pre-paid electricity.

Residents are further encouraged to pay their municipal accounts into the municipality’s account, or at Pick Pay. Shoprite, Checkers and Easypay.

• CALL CENTRE

Communities are urged to report power outages and water interruptions to the municipal call centre at the following numbers 017 801 3400 / 017 801 3500 / 079 503 5484 / 079 503 6729 or 086 116 7852.

The municipality call on all residents to please be patient with the call centre agents.

• LICENSING OFFICES, LIBRARIES, HALLS, PARKS.

All libraries, Licensing offices, community halls and parks are temporary closed until further notice.

• TRAFFIC SERVICES

Municipal traffic officials will be on duty during the lockdown.
