“Teachers are working together to stay positive and prepared.

Principals and staff members from schools in Ermelo shared how they planned on keeping learners updated with lessons during the national Covid-19 lockdown.

According to Ms Marinda Kriel, principal of Ermelo English Primary School, the school has communicated with parents through an SMS-portal and guided them by giving the following info:

Ms Kriel, said: “All learners react differently to any situation, this lockdown is going to have an effect on some learners, especially those who need more assistance and time.

“The educators realise that we will have to push harder once we return, so they are already busy summarising content and working on ways to assist learners in a positive way.”

Ms Nannette Botha, teacher at Netherland Park Secondary School, said, teachers upload lessons to Google Drive where learners can access it.

“Teachers are working together to stay positive and prepared.

“Most educators have had positive feedback from learners regarding lesson and even the lazy learners are missing school.”

According to Ms Mettie Scholtz, principal of Ark Christian School, teachers are in contact with parents of learners over Whatsapp-groups.
