Msukaligwa implements loadshedding in Breyten

The Highvelder asked Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman for the Msukaligwa Municipality, whether this was the first account of loadshedding being implemented in Breyten and whether other towns risked following suit?

The Msukaligwa Local Municipality announced it will implement loadshedding in Breyten.

According to an entry on its Facebook page, the network is constrained and overloaded.

They urged the community to cooperate in reducing electricity consumption by continuing to use electricity sparingly.

The Highvelder asked Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman for the Msukaligwa Municipality, whether this was the first account of loadshedding being implemented in Breyten and whether other towns were also at risk.

The messages were sent to him via WhatsApp, but he could not comment at the time of publishing.

Residents of Nomndeni and Ext 4 also lashed out at the municipality on their Facebook page and said they were also affected by constant power outages.

With winter approaching rapidly, most residents are concerned about the possibility of loadshedding.

Even though Eskom expects demand to rise significantly immediately after the lockdown, they hope to be able to avoid load shedding.

There is, however, a modest risk of Stage 1 load shedding for a few days during July.
