Man dies, allegedly struck by lightning

When the ambulance arrived, the personnel declared him dead.

ERMELO – The Mkhaliphi family is mourning the death of Mr Clement Sbusiso Mkhaliphi (21), who died after having allegedly been struck by lightning in Cassim Park on October 2.

According to Mr Sfiso Mkhaliphi, Sbusiso’s brother, he was a civil engineering student at Gert Sibande College and worked part-time at a local car wash in town.

“My brother was on his way home from work when he was struck by lightning.

“The neighbour, who is also a paramedic, informed us that my brother was lying in the street mere metres away from our home,” he said.

When the ambulance arrived, the personnel declared him dead.

“My brother and I had been debating soccer fixtures for an upcoming match just earlier that day. The news about his death felt surreal,” he said.
