Ermelo Care Bears volunteers take a stance against bullying in schools

“Inform your teacher when other children bully you and remember, sometimes it’s okay not to be okay,” she concluded.

ERMELO – Members of Ermelo Care Bears recently reached out to learners of Summerfield Private School to talk to them about bullying.

Ms Julia Basson and Ms Sylvija Breytenbach, through demonstrating with balloons, showed learners that bullying breaks down people.

On each balloon, words that children were being called were written down.

Ms Basson said to the children that every time they say mean things they hurt that person and break down their self-confidence.

“You should instead focus on building each other up,” she said.

“Inform your teacher when other children bully you and remember, sometimes it’s okay not to be okay,” she concluded.

The Care Bears aims to reach out to all the schools in Ermelo.
