Tornado spotted outside Ermelo on Morgenzon road
According to an eye-witness account, it was visible for about 10 minutes at around 9:25 and the tornado moved over an open field in a South Eastern direction.
ERMELO – Mr Pieter Jordaan, apparently spotted a tornado outside Ermelo along the Morgenzon road this morning, January 2.
He shared his experience on the Reënval in SA Facebook Page.
According to an eye-witness account, it was visible for about 10 minutes at around 9:25 and the tornado moved over an open field in a South Eastern direction.
There are also unconfirmed reports of a possible second tornado along the Amersfoort road.
Leandri Capes also shared two photos of a funnel cloud outside Ermelo towards Volksrust on the Storm Report SA Facebook page.
Ermelo has over the past few days experienced hail and heavy rainfall which subsequently saw some flooding and road closures.
Motorists are urged to be cautious on the roads and avoid low-water bridges if at all possible.
