More than 100 learners from High School in Ermelo transported to hospital

ERMELO – More than 100 learners were transported from Lindile High School to Ermelo Provincial Hospital this morning.

The learners complained of diarrhea and stomach cramps.

The cause of the outbreak is unknown at this time.

There were several theories as to the cause of the problem, and some of the teachers mentioned that the school was without water on Tuesday, February 8, and when the water finally returned, it was dirty and full of mud.

A teacher said that brown soup was served at the school, and some of the learners claimed to have eaten beans.

TThe Highvelder has sent inquiries to the principal and Msukaligwa Local Municipality, and is awaiting their responses.
