Getting rid of the trucks that illegally park and stay overnight in the town is another aspect of the operation they’ll be focussing on according to Zwane.

ERMELO – The Msukaligwa Traffic Department is conducting an operation where they’ll be pulling over trucks and issuing fines if they pass through town.

According to Mandla Zwane, municipal spokesperson, the officers have been stationed in Kerk Street near Ackermans since 15:00 and will remain there until 23:00.

Getting rid of the trucks that illegally park and stay overnight in the town is another aspect of the operation they’ll be focussing on according to Zwane.

Recent reports from Highvelder on several accidents and motorists who drove recklessly raised the issue of where the traffic officers were.

Waar is Ermelo se verkeersbeamptes?

Highvelder enquired with Zwane about the number of traffic officers in Ermelo, as well as what they do during the day because you rarely see them.

Zwane stated that there were only six traffic officials who were responsible for the whole of Ermelo.

The community expressed its dissatisfaction with the officials’ apparent absence when the story was published on the Highvelder’s Facebook page.
