Is Ermelo’s Ward 7’s by-election at risk? Take the poll and let us know
The Independent Electoral Commision Mpumalanga has referred the matter to its national office for investigation.
ERMELO – Ward 7 is gearing up for a by-election on October 23 following the resignation of DA councillor Zelandra Breytenbach.
However, allegations of irregularities in the voter registration process have raised concerns about the integrity of the upcoming vote.
Registration, which took place on September 7 and 8, continues online until September 29.
Reports have surfaced that certain individuals registered despite not residing within Ward 7, which is a violation of election rules. Some of these voters allegedly provided questionable addresses, including guest houses.

A source claims that this could be an attempt to manipulate the election by ‘planting’ voters to sway the outcome.
