Ermelo woman in court over dismembered body discovery

Preliminary investigations suggest that an argument broke out between the suspect and the victim, during which the man was stabbed to death.

ERMELO – The case of Ntombenhle Precious Mthethwa (33), who was arrested after a 37-year-old man was found dead in Ext 2 on August 11, was postponed to November 26, pending a decision from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Following a tip-off, police were dispatched to a house where they discovered dismembered body parts, some inside a plastic bag and others in a maize meal bag.

Preliminary investigations suggest that an argument broke out between the suspect and the victim, during which the man was stabbed to death.

Mthethwa is facing charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice. She first appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on August 14.

The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the person who reported the matter to the police.

According to him, crime statistics reveal that many murders are committed by people who know one another.

“This is why we urge communities to work with us to help prevent such incidents,” said Mkhwanazi.
