Ermelo community mourns death of Bongumusa“Staffa” Mtsweni
His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of those he touched through his philanthropic endeavours.
ERMELO – The local community is mourning the death of Bongumusa Mtsweni, better known as ‘Staffa Black’ on June 15.
The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Highvelder has, however, reached out to the local SAPS spokesperson, Captain Carla Prinsloo, for information on June 18. She said she would look into it, but has yet to respond.
Last year on August 18, Highvelder published an article about Mtsweni titled: Local DJ gives back to communities in need.
Mtsweni had a desire to uplift others in his community, shown through his initiation and support of two charity events in Ermelo: Hat a Kid, and Warm a Grootman Hustler and the disabled.
His belief in the power of community and the importance of giving back resonated deeply with everyone who knew him.
Gift Ngewenyama, a close friend of Mtsweni for over 24 years, shared his sorrow, “We grew up watching soccer together, having braais, and were also business affiliates in a stokvel. He was a very good, educated man, and friend.”
GSDM held a memorial service at their offices on June 20 followed by a funeral service in the Bethal Town Hall on June 22.
