GSDM maps out 241 homes at new planned township in Morgenzon
The Gert Sibande District Municipality handed the completed planning and surveying work for Morgenzon Ext 5 to the Lekwa Local Municipality.
MORGENZON – The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) has officially handed over the completed planning and surveying work for Morgenzon Ext 5 to the Lekwa Local Municipality.
This project, aimed at developing a new township, will yield 241 residential erven (plots), which are intended for future housing construction.
The planning and technical work was carried out entirely through GSDM’s internal expertise, with teams from town planning, land surveying and geographic information system (GIS) departments leading the process.
Specialist studies, including environmental impact assessments, flood line analysis and storm water management plans were outsourced, but the majority of the technical work was handled by GSDM’s professionals.
The need for the new township arose after the decommissioning and subsequent invasion of a former landfill site at Morgenzon’s entrance.
GSDM then assisted the Lekwa Local Municipality by identifying Portion 3 of the Morgenzon Farm for the new township development, focusing on the planning and design aspects.
