VIDEO: Truck hits 4 cows on N17 near Ermelo, plunges down steep hill

Farmers in the area along with their workers came to assist in clearing up the scene.

ERMELO – A truck transporting steel beams collided with four cows on the N17, Bethal road, about 6 km outside Ermelo.

The truck veered off the road, down a steep hill and came to a standstill close to a riverbed.

Emergency services were swiftly on the scene, including Van Wettens Towing Services, Mpumalanga Traffic Control, and members of the local SAPS.

ER24 paramedics also responded to the call.

The truck driver, Andries Mashile, who was the sole occupant of the truck, sustained only light injuries to his leg.

He told Highvelder that he was en route from Boksburg to Lothair when the accident occurred.

Farmers and their workers were also present, assisting with the aftermath of the collision.

Efforts to clear the scene are underway.
