Truck transporting logs catches fire on N17 near Ermelo
A truck’s cab was engulfed in flames on the N17 near Ermelo before the toll gate. The driver escaped and firefighters battled the blaze.
A truck transporting wooden logs caught fire on the N17 between Ermelo and Bethal, just before the toll gate heading to Bethal earlier this evening.
Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, where members of Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Services managed to extinguish the flames that engulfed the truck’s cab.
According to a member of the road patrol, the truck’s driver is said to have escaped without injury, reportedly jumping out of the vehicle to avoid harm.

As the fire spread, the field next to the N17 also ignited, but firefighters brought the blaze under control before it could spread further.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution while emergency services clear the scene.
